Abstract

Science is more than a set of discoveries; it is the foundation that sustains human progress. This editorial reflects on the need to ensure the sustainability of science itself, especially at a time marked by rapid technological transformations. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has expanded the possibilities for research and the application of knowledge, but it also threatens to destabilize the ethical and cognitive framework that supports scientific practice. The sustainability of science depends on quality education and engaged citizens who know how to distinguish information from misinformation. It also needs plurality, because it is in the diversity of ideas, cultures and perspectives that science finds its transformative power. The greatest risk lies in neglecting clear communication, allowing ignorance to undermine public trust. This manifesto is a call for unity in defense of science as a living, critical and human practice. Only through collective effort will we ensure that science continues to be a beacon of hope and transformation, protecting its essence from internal and external threats.
